Hamadan Is a city in the western part of Iran. The city is a big trading center for rugs that are woven in nearby villages. There are many different styles used in that region but we use the simple generic name of “Hamadan.” These rugs use classic medallion and allover patterns. The colors are dominated by deep indigos and reds, however, various minor colors are used to supplement. The sizes are usually odd for western homes because a metric scale is used. These rugs tend to have some age on them due to the difficulty to obtain them in the current market.
